Experience
This semester ended in a blink of an eye, and it has been a roller coaster ride for me. The starting part was manageable until it became more challenging in Tasks 2 and 3. The tasks require a lot of creative thinking and understanding of the principles before applying them. It requires mature consideration as it is closer to the actual working standards. Sometimes, I feel upset because I fail to come up with good ideas or designs, and the quality of my work seems far from what is expected. Until Ms Lilian reminded us, it’s okay to make things wrong in the beginning but keep trying and record all the process, and initially, we can make something out of it. Simple words but a huge motivation to me. I had been reminded not to overthink sometimes when things get complicated. This is something I need to improve on, to keep it simple but think more in-depth.

Observation
I appreciate how Ms Lilian takes care of each of us to ensure we are doing well. The constructive feedback and words of encouragement from her motivate me to move forward. I like her sharing some real-life experiences with us, which makes me even more excited about the working industry. I realised at this stage that we need to work independently and require high discipline and time management. It is time for us to 'grow up', and take the initiative to learn from extra resources, not just watching only the pre-recorded tutorials. Through these 14 weeks, I observed myself it's a 'slow learner'. However, I always remind myself to take things slowly and don't compare myself to others as we all have different working styles, different strengths and weaknesses. It might take a longer time for me to understand the concept and theory. So, I had to work harder to make more attempts to make it right and get the desired outcome. Self-reminder: "It's okay to go slow as long as you don't stop".
Findings
This module helped me better understand branding and started to pay more attention and curiosity about the story behind the brand. I started to see the space and form of a logo instead of just looking at the aesthetic part. Overall, Brand Corporate Identity has been a meaningful learning journey. I have learnt more than just graphic design but soft skills such as teamwork, peer support, daring to be different and constantly pushing myself to improve. Design is a long journey, and we should keep learning no matter which stage.
Thank you Ms. Lilian!
